10:00–19:00 The Reportage Day at the 8th Warsaw Book Fair

Programme of the Ryszard Kapuściński Award for Literary Reportage

10:00 am – 7:00 pm

Hall Londyn A (MDM Bookstore will sell books by this year’s finalists at promotional prices. The authors will be signing books after their meeting).

 

10:15 am – 12:00

Meeting with Polish finalists: Cezary Łazarewicz, author of “Żeby nie było śladow. Sprawa Grzegorza Przemyka” (published by Czarne), hosted by Zbigniew Gluza (“Karta” quarterly), and with Aneta Prymaka-Oniszk, author of the reportage “Bieżeństwo 1915. Zapomniani uchodźcy” (published by Czarne), hosted by Magdalena Kicińska.

The meeting will include the award ceremony of the educational competition for young adults “Moj Busz po polsku” (“My Polish Bush”).

12:15 – 2:00 pm

Saved in translation. Mariusz Kalinowski, a member of the jury, will talk with the nominated translators: Barbara Kopeć-Umiastowska, Marta Szafrańska-Brandt, Joanna Malawska and Janusz Ochab.

During the meeting, the winners of the contest “Translators of the World” will be presented with awards.

Meeting with Martín Caparrós, the author of “Hunger” (Polish translation published by Wydawnictwo Literackie), with the translator of the book, Marta Szafrańska-Brandt, and other guests, moderated by Michał Żakowski (PR1)

4 pm – 5:30 pm

Meeting with Ed Vulliamy, the author of “The War is Dead, Long Live the War. Bosnia: The Reckoning” (published in Polish by Czarne), and with the translator, Janusz Ochab, moderated by Miłada Jędrysik (“Przekroj”)

5:30 pm – 7:00 pm

Meeting with the special guest: Paolo Rumiz, Italian writer and journalist, a friend of Ryszard Kapuściński, with the participation of Joanna Malawska, the translator of “La Leggenda Dei Monti Naviganti” (published in Polish by Czarne), moderated by Anna Osmólska-Mętrak.
