DEBATE “THE LIBRARY OF THE FUTURE – How to encourage people to use libraries in the age of smartphones, Instagram and mobile apps”

The aim of the debate is to demonstrate the development in public libraries in Warsaw. The speakers – active promoters of reading – will talk about the challenges faced by literary culture in the age of smartphones and social media.

The panellists will be directors of Warsaw libraries.

The “Warsaw” category of the Literary Award of the City of Warsaw is a distinction for writers who write about the city in a unique way. The meeting will feature the following writers speaking about their works: Anna Bikont – author of the book Sendlerowa. W ukryciu, Janusz Majcherek and Tomasz Mościcki – authors of the book Kryptonim: Dziady, and Grzegorz Mika – author of Od wielkich idei do wielkiej płyty. Moderator: literary critic, poet and journalist Janusz Drzewucki.

Literature expert Anna Maria Czernow will talk about children’s literature. Adam Wajrak, the author of Lolek, and Małgorzata Strękowska-Zaremba, the author of Dom nie z tej ziemi, will talk about their books nominated for the Literary Award of the City of Warsaw in that category.

The meeting will be also attended by book illustrators, including Daniel de Latour (Dom nie z tej ziemi).
